Answers to all those burning questions…


How do I order a wedding cake?: Please fill out our inquiry form and we will get in touch to confirm your date is available on our calendar. We will be in touch via email to schedule a time to chat and gather more details about what exactly you’re looking for in a cake (design, cake size etc.) and provide a custom quote from there.


When should I order my wedding cake?: We recommend securing your date on our calendar as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. We are a small team, with a limited amount of bookings each month. We always try to accommodate last minute orders, but once our calendar is fully booked we stop taking orders. If you’re wondering whether your date is still open, please fill out an inquiry form and we’ll let you know!


How much will my wedding cake cost?: Your wedding cake will be beautiful and delicious, but most of all, it will be unique to you. Due to the custom nature of our design process, we do not have a set price list. Pricing is determined by the size of the cake and complexity of the design. We provide a detailed quote once we’ve discussed your wedding cake design together during our phone consultation.


Is there an order minimum we must meet?: Order minimums vary based on wedding date and delivery location. We will be sure to communicate our minimum up front before scheduling our initial phone call.


Do you offer tastings?: We do! We offer tasting boxes available for pick up from our kitchen in Hotchkiss, or sent via next-day shipping December-March. Visit our Tasting Box page to learn more about our process, place an order, and see when the next shipping date will be.

*We do not require a deposit before ordering a tasting box, however we do book on a first come first serve basis and placing your deposit is required to reserve your date on our calendar.



Do you offer other desserts besides cake?: Absolutely! We make a variety of desserts including cupcakes, cakepops, mini tarts, cookies, macarons, and a variety of other confections. We actually strongly suggest dessert spreads as a fun, unique, and memorable experience for your guests. All desserts are priced individually, with Gluten Free options available. We offer cake stands/platter rental, setup, labels, and everything else you need to create a stunning dessert table. My Wedding is in Western Colorado, but we live out of town. Can you work with us?: Absolutely, our process ultimately remains the same. We offer tastings by mail and handle all contracts and payments in one easy to use online portal called Honeybook.


Do you make vegan, dairy-free, or gluten-free cakes?: At this time we are only able to offer “Gluten Intolerant Friendly” cakes and desserts. We take extra care when baking gluten free items, but we are a facility where gluten is present, so we cannot guarantee there will be no cross contamination. We have a select few Vegan & Dairy Free dessert options available upon request but do not have any cake options at this time.


Do you deliver?: Yes! We offer delivery for wedding cakes of all sizes and require it for cakes three tiers and larger. Delivery fees are based on mileage to and from our shop to your venue, so please include the venue address in your inquiry form and we will provide an accurate quote with your proposal.


Can we opt to pick up our Wedding Cake/Desserts instead of delivery?: Some orders are available for pick up from our shop in Downtown Hotchkiss. We only allow cakes 2 tiers or smaller to be picked up and ask that you make sure your designated pick up person has a passenger ride along with them to hold the Wedding Cake. The vehicle used for pick up should be kept very cool during transport, and desserts should have a place to sit that is completely flat such as a floorboard or back of an SUV (no slanted seats etc.). Blue Sky is not responsible for any damages incurred once the desserts leave our shop.


When and how do I make a payment?: We accept all major credit cards, bank transfers, cash, check, and Venmo. Once we have completed our initial phone consultation and a proposal has been emailed to you, the proposal will have a link included to place your initial deposit to secure your date on our calendar. You can pay with credit card or bank transfer directly through that proposal, or we can chat about other form of payments if that is preferred. The remaining balance is due 1 month prior to your wedding date, once we’ve had a chance to complete a final review and confirm your order. Your final payment can also be made online through your proposal.
